Filming of the documentary series The Bells of Rus by the Social Investments Agency is coming to an end. After recording passages about bell ringing from the works of Tsvetaeva, Yesenin, Kuprin, Garshin and Prishvin, actress Dina Korzun admitted that she was deeply moved by “touching this prose and poetry, which reflects every author’s wonder at an astonishing sound, an astonishing phenomenon — the shimmering peals of the belfries”. “When a bell rings, it opens a channel connecting our world with the boundless Divine Universe. And through these works it’s as if we glimpse into it,” the actress remarked. Actor Andrey Merzlikin agreed that the stories of Russian writers brought back his own memories of how he too “had the chance to learn and to ‘play pranks’ during Easter week, ringing the bells as the heart desires”. “Joy is the sign of a healthy person,” the actor added, “and bells illustrate and even create that childlike, heartfelt state of joy. The joy we all lack so much.”
