Dina Korzun: “Every bell reflects the soul of its maker”

The ringing of bells in the life of Rus, of Russia, of our country, makes an impression on everyone. Because bells are alive. And they are all different: each has its own character, its own outlook on the world, its own mood. Some are strict and demanding, like a teacher with a cane, and some are gentle and loving.
It doesn’t depend on size; it depends on something else. I think everyone should make a point of going to listen to a belfry next to a church. And, you know, bells depend on their maker, because the maker puts into them his prayer, his reflections, his understanding of the world, his age.
So every bell, of course, reflects his thoughts, his soul.

And the ringing of bells is a conversation; it is a kind of amplifier, an instrument that begins to speak, to sound, in the hands of a master.  The bell ringer’s heart, hands and eye are a feeling of Love. And the bell is a huge microphone, a loudspeaker that carries his conversation across the whole city.
